PRIVACY & CLASSROOM DATA
Keep the work
in the right hands.
A practical explanation of the software in this website.
The public website
The Merriveo public pages do not include analytics trackers or advertising scripts. Styles, scripts and artwork are served with the site. Hosting providers may retain ordinary web access and security logs.
The contact form prepares an email in your own mail app. It does not submit messages to a website database. Your email provider handles the message when you choose to send it.
Story Forge
Story Forge stores teacher accounts, classrooms, assigned student aliases, votes, story passages, drafts, submissions, feedback, sharing decisions, and moderated comments in the site’s database. It uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. Passwords and student recovery codes are stored as hashes.
Who can see the work?
A classroom teacher can view their students’ drafts and reviews. Other teachers cannot access that classroom through the application. The administrator manages teacher access and does not automatically receive classroom access in the interface. Authorized hosting administrators can access the underlying database and backups.
The museum is restricted to classroom members. Publishing a student story requires their permission and teacher approval. The projector view shows shared story and voting information without private drafts or access codes.
Retention and requests
The school or site operator is responsible for retention, backups, access decisions, and handling data requests. Ask your classroom teacher or site administrator about removing classroom records or obtaining a copy. Previously downloaded exports and backups must be handled separately.
Before classroom use
Use assigned aliases, keep access codes private, and follow your school’s requirements for student information. This page describes the included software; it is not a claim of certification or a substitute for the school’s privacy policies.
